Jessie’s Closet: 8 Things To Prepare Before A Photoshoot

If you are a model, or interested in getting into modelling, or just someone who has a professional photoshoot planned (for graduation pictures, family portraits, etc), please read on, because this article will be useful for you!
I am going to summarize about 8 things you should prepare before a shoot, as these small details can make a huge difference in the end product, not to mention the amount of time you will save the photographer from post production :p
Number One: EXFOLIATE
This goes for both guys AND girls! Exfoliating your skin the night before a shoot will get rid of the dead cells and regenerate a new layer of skin. This will not only make your glow, but it also makes it easier to apply makeup as your skin will absorb the ingredients more readily.
Number Two: SHAVE and MOISTURIZE
Even if I’m not doing a lingerie or bikini shoot, I find that it’s so much “freer” for me to pose knowing that I’m shaved and moisturized! (of course, don’t forget deodorant too!)
Number Three: NUDE GARMENTS and HEELS
Also remember to bring nude or black strapless bra and undergarments, as well as heels in the same colours (for girls). They go with almost any outfit and you never know when you’ll need them! (Even if the photographer did not specify you bring such things). Personally I like to carry everything in a big black tote instead of several bags…
If you can, please, please sleep well the night before and avoid drinking water 3 hours before you go to bed! If you don’t, dark circles and puffy eyes will generally come out to greet you the next morning… If for whatever reason you just cannot get enough sleep the night before, you wake up and get puffy eyes…then…read number 5!
Number Five: DEPUFF!
Freeze 2 spoons in the refrigerator the night before, and in the morning, you can put them over your eyes for instant DEPUFFICATION! : )
Number Six: CLEAN HAIR
Please cleanse and condition your hair the night before… No one wants to work with oily hair
Number Seven: INSPIRATIONAL PICTURES
I find it extremely helpful to look at inspirational pictures before a shoot, to help me get in the mood. Practice your poses, and do lots of research!
Number Eight: HAVE FUN!
Lastly, have fun at your shoot! When you’re relaxed and happy, how bad can the pictures turn out? You are creating something artistic and magical, be proud of that!
