Monday night, Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino poured his heart out to fans via a series of hand written notes on Residence Inn pad paper, that he then Instagrammed. In the notes, he discussed everything from quitting Community, to problems with his label, to fears of not living up to his potential, to being worried that his girlfriend will get pregnant too soon… and that she still loves her ex.

Ok, so if you’re not familiar with Donald Glover, then you’re also not used to this kind of frankness from a celebrity, much less a rapper, but to those of us that have followed his career- this is not that strange at all. Childish Gambino has always been brazen with his opinions, his bravado, his fears and his failures. Sure, this is a bit unorthodox, but if anything it will only make Gambino fans love the man more, and lead those who are not familiar with the brand to get familiar.

The dude wears his heart on his sleeve, and he simply doesn’t know any other way to live… Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to listen to the That Power outro on repeat.
