2015 NFL Playoff Predictions: Conference Championship Projections

As the 2015 Conference Championships are only a few short days away, now is a great time to look forward and see what action we can expect over this weekend. With some serious contenders, it is safe to say that nobody that has made it this far does not deserve to be here. That being said, there are definitely some areas of the games between the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots as well as the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks that need some closer examination. Let’s take a look at some of the most important Conference Championship projections.
Projection #1: No Upsets or Blowouts
Llike we said, there are no teams that squeaked into the playoffs and have been riding on luck ever since. These teams are four serious contenders, and there is no reason to believe that one team is going to be able to open up a large lead or simply thrash their opponent. That does not mean that the teams are not preparing for it, though. Bill Belichick is always one to revise his game plan, as seen by the ingenious substitutions he used last week.
Projection #2 The Biggest Potential Mismatch Right now
There looks to be one glaring mismatch between two teams that are playing this week: Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks. Most people have a safe bet that the Seahawks run game will be able to plow through the Packers defensive line, which is only ranked 23rd in stopping the run through the regular season. This could definitely affect the pace of the game, with Aaron Rodgers potentially seeing less time on the field.
Projection #3 Big Quarterback Performance
It should come as no surprise that many people are picking Russell Wilson to have the most effective performance this week. After all, with running lanes open to him and his youth that makes him more malleable than the veterans playing for the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots. Expect big runs and some great passes from Wilson.
Projection #4 Top Running Back Performance
Again, little surprise here as Marshawn Lynch looks poised to tear off large chunks of yards against the Packers’ defense. With multiple highlight reel runs under his belt this year, this incredible athlete shows no signs of stopping during the playoffs.
Projection #5 Best Wide Receiver Performance
Even though they are facing a tough defense, the Packers’ Randall Cobb has shown that he has the ability to make difficult plays look easy, even against some of the most difficult defenses in the league. He will certainly have his job cut out for him this week with the Seahawks, but if he shows the grit that he has in past weeks, he will be big again.
Projection #6 Tight End Run Wild
With Bill Belichick looking to have an incredibly difficult game to play, it only seems logical that he will employ Rob Gronkowski in many ways that will keep the Indianapolis Colts on their toes. The New England Patriots need to power to get through the Colts’ line, and the infamous Gronkowski brings that as well as finesse to the position that will be needed if they want to make another appearance in the Super Bowl this year.
