Lorrrrrdddd have mercy. Thought I was staring at Cousin IT who had a sex change in the first picture.

If this “fat people thing” continues, anatomy class is going to have to include some new body parts. What is worse is students are going to have to be fishing through rolls of fat just to find the bits and pieces.

    On a more serious rant….

Yes we comment on fat people a lot, how disgusting excess fat is – and not just for the onlooker but actually for the human body itself. This is an insult to the miracle that is the human body. What I do not understand is the criticism a lot of us receive, not necessarily on this website, but in general society for such comments. Commenting on obesity is NEEDED. Why should we not point out that it is exceptionally unhealthy, disgusting, revolting, and that these people need to wake up and start feeling better about themselves? Sugar coating the issue won’t help these people, literally. It is a matter of taking RESPONSIBILITY and fuck, a lot of you don’t want to. Far too often we look at what or who we came blame, such as advertising, the companies who make things taste so sweet, companies who “supersize” things or the portion sizes served at restaurants, yada yada yada. I praise Dr. Chilm Richards, Nemean, NateBlack and my other fellow Den writers for bringing this issue to the forefront in a humorous yet serious manner. If you are offended by this… then ask yourself, why?

Obesity needs to be addressed. We recognize that the fat people we comment on have feelings (we also recognize these people clearly EAT their feelings) but I think what is happening here is that we are providing a looking glass. This looking glass allows for confronting issues that some of you probably don’t want to and you get upset because (a) it is you that has a problem that you are not yet ready to confront or (b) you know someone who is. Look, the people here at LDU are hardly uncompassionate…where is the turning point if there is no shock value? Are you really going to do something about the underlying issues, whether it is for yourself or another, if we include how amazing a sprinkle donut tastes and that we want you to head to Krispy Kreme right this second to get one…and that we really can’t blame fat people for their lack of control? Hell no.

So how else do you expect our writers to discuss this issue?

Extremes garner attention. Attention garners focus. Focus and realization can bring change. Do you really think we WANT to look at these people? No. Do we want to be them? No. Do you? Probably not. We laugh because otherwise we would probably cry or barf…but in all honesty, because we are so turned off by such a thing, we want to see these people better their lives = get healthy…mind and body.

Keep these posts coming Dr. Chilm…and maybe someday fat people will be a distant memory.
