Lion’s Den U is happy to share with you a contest that will honour the memory of Colonel Harland Sanders, of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame, and the glory of his secret 11 herbs and spices. Recently an unpublished manuscript was found in the KFC archives down in Louisiana, detailing not only the trials and tribulations of the Colonel’s rise to kingship of a fried chicken empire, but the processes that led him to his greatest discoveries in the kitchen and the world famed recipes that were their result. Roger Eaton, CEO of KFC Corp, has announced that this “food autobiography” will be published sometime next year.
“This is a new kind of book. There’s never been another written like it as far as I know. It’s the
story of a man’s life and the story of the food he’s cooked and eaten, running right along with it.
The food I’ve liked, the work I’ve done and the way I think are all the same thing. I’m going to
tell how I grew up and at the same time how you can have the kind of food I grew up on. I’m
making room in these pages for real old-time American country and farm cooking before it’s
forgotten. I was a farm boy and lean toward farm cooking. To me, my recipes are priceless.”
-Colonel Harland Sanders
We have already completed the first round of the contest on our fanpage, and 11 $50 KFC gift cards will be awarded the winners. For the second round today, Saturday November 27, 2011 at 11:11am, 11(+1) finalists will compete in a vote-off for the grand prize of $1,111. The finalists will have 11 hours to get as many votes on the poll as they can (ends at 10:11pm sharp). The winner will be announced at the end of that time, and eternal gloating will ensue. Thanks once again to all of out contestants, and of course the Colonel for his magical herbs and glorious spices.
