Ever Want to Fly? It’s No Longer a Dream

I’m constantly surprised by the new inventions that come out every day. Sometimes they’re brilliant and other times they’ll end up as WTF moments of the week.
For this one, the jury’s still out. The latest invention to hit the shelves is the JETLEV-FLYER, a water-propelled jetpack that you can use to “fly” over water. The excerpt below is from jetlev.com:
No other flying device even comes close to the JETLEV-FLYER’s stability, agility and ease of use. Feel as one with the jetpack when you fly, and experience levitation flight so stable that everyone—including you—would think that you are suspended on cables. The three-dimensional degree of freedom will thrill and enthrall you like nothing else you have ever experienced, yet you can fly over deep water with the assurance that it is one of the safest powersports ever invented. The JETLEV-FLYER will change every pre-conceived notion about personal flight!
So while I’ll admit this is cool. I have a lot of problems with the marketing of this invention.
1. You are NOT flying. When people dream about flying I don’t think anyone imagines a monstrous metal backpack with two firehoses strapped to their back
2. Powersport? I’ve never heard this term before but to suggest that this is a sport upsets me. There are definitely some questionable sports out there but even Darts players are calling ‘Bullshit’ on this one.
A few quick facts:
- Top speed: 40mph
- Max height: 50 feet
- Pricetag: $120K (Sure, you could buy a miracle whip (aka white on white benz)… OR you could FLY!)
So, JetLev… totally awesome or totally lame?
