Our first instinct as humans is the will to survive and our second is our sexual desire.  In the day-to-day grind we naturally get caught up and often forget about following our primal instincts.

Tools like meditation and sex have a lot in common and can do amazing things for our body’s.

1) Sex and meditation both have the ability to dissolve our sense of self-awareness, separating us from our ego. 

2) They both lead to a stoppage of mental chatter. In mediation when thoughts pop into the brain, allow yourself to let them come and go as the waves do at the shore of the ocean.  As you are in the motion of sex, it is extremely pleasurable and hard to focus on just about anything else but that.

3) Both sex and meditation help aid in loosening physical and mental boundaries.

4) Sex and Meditation are both major stress relievers.  Controlled concentrated breathing used in meditation is extremely calming, much like the breath used in tantric sex.  As you reach orgasm you are able to “release” allowing yourself to naturally let go.  This is a form of cleansing and renewing.  

5) Both focused breathing and sex aid in the release of tension and allow new life in (on a cellular level).


6) They help you achieve better sleep cycles - Hey guys, ever wonder why you get tired and go to sleep after sex? The oxytocin released during orgasm promotes sleep and getting enough sleep has been linked with a host of other good things, such as maintaining a healthy weight.  Concentrated breathing can allow you to wake up and give you much needed energy, but it also has a calming effect that can get you a much needed good night’s sleep.


7) Caloric burn - In a working mediation like a yoga class you’ll not only get centered you’ll get a great workout.  If you are practicing your breath at home, you will become conscious.

The more in tune you are with your body the less typical you are to make poor choices like self sabotage with a tub of ice cream, cookies, chips, or by simple overeating -  In the act of sex, granted you aren’t a starfish, the caloric burn is like none other, you will work muscles you didn’t know you had – just don’t get sex legs or I may laugh at you for walking funny.
